PMP emergency response team were called to survey a pipeline at Franklaw WTW.
The pipeline, which supplied potable water from Garstang to Blackpool, had developed a leak and a quick solution was required.
PMP carried out a man entry survey and found the leak area and other areas of concern.
The repair method proposed by PMP was:
- high pressure water jet the main
- install AMEX-10 seals to all areas of concern, on the UU Framework Agreement
- apply a DWI approved paint to repair the missing bitumen coating.
The proposed solution was approved by United Utilities and PMP mobilised as fast as possible.
The works were successfully carried out, and the main returned to service, in just four days.
