Project: Valve refurbishment and associated works, Kelgate Service Reservoir, Nr Beverley, Yorkshire
We
have worked with Stonbury on many projects since our formation
and they asked us to refurbish a non-return valve and gate valve
in Kelgate service reservoir, Nr Beverley, East Yorkshire. We were
also tasked with replacing corroded operating chains, removing redundant
pipe work and with replacing an iron staircase which no longer complied
with health & safety requirements.
All work had to be carried by confined spaces trained personnel
as the works were to be carried out in an underground storage reservoir.
Lifting gear was installed to facilitate the removal of the valve
heads and redundant equipment
The non-return valve and gate valve were stripped down, cleaned
and refurbished on site and recommissioned. The redundant pipework
was cut up into sections for removal and the staircase was dismantled
and removed. A new (prefabricated) stainless steel staircase, designed
to current health and safety guidelines, was then assembled on site
and fitted into place.
The work was carried out over a two week period
