During
works to build a new road in Chorley, Lancashire, an old
draw off pipe was discovered. As the pipe was not shown on maps
of the area, its precise location and route had to be determined.
Mott Macdonald called us in to trace the line of the pipe and to
cap it off. The pipe was drilled and tapped. Compressed air was
introduced into the pipe and a visual check was carried out to identify
the location of the pipe mouth and to check for any joints or fractures.
Once the line of the pipe had been established, the pipe was disconnected
and sealed off.
